The United Nations and its Food and Agriculture Organization define that
area for fisheries purposes as the Western Central Atlantic. Check this out:

Subject: [CONCH-L] Geography question

Does anyone know if there is a term to use for the geographical area which
includes North Carolina, both coasts of Florida to Texas, along Central
America and the N. Coast of S. America including the Caribbean and W.
Indies. Does someone have an idea of what would be a good term for this
area.....
