Dear Shelling Friends,

Living on America's space coast is always interesting. The very last Space Shuttle is now scheduled to launch on July 8th, a few days before the COA Convention at the Radisson at the Port Resort, Cape Canaveral, FL, July 13-17th.

Because of the extreme interest in the last Shuttle flight, and possibly the million people who will visit to witness same, all rooms for the COA conference hotel are booked through July 12th, including all the rooms we had contracted for COA for the pre-convention field trips.
There is room in the inn for July 13th and the convention days for COA. Because of the way the hotel books if you request rooms from July 11 on you will be told the hotel is full, but that just means you can't book for July 11-12. Obviously, if there is an early shuttle delay announced well before July 8th, some rooms may become available prior to July 13. If not, there is little possibility of booking any hotel in the area around the time of the launch.

The short schedule for the COA is: the COA formally opens at 1 p.m. on Wednesday,July 13th with programs in the afternoon. The reception is that evening. On Thursday July 14 are programs in the morning, workshops in the afternoon, and the oral auction in the evening. That day will also be shell club sales and the shell exhibits. On Friday July 15 will be programs throughout the day, and the banquet in the evening. Saturday July 16 will be the COA business meeting in the morning, and the world famous shell Bourse will begin at 1 p.m. and run through 9 p.m. The bourse will reopen on Sunday July 17 from 9 a.m. -4 p.m. Also throughout will be silent auctions and field trips.
