Your e-mail had a web page from Md state park. The Md state park is a long
way ( app 25 miles of a long and beautiful beach) from the places mentioned
in Mr. Rosenthal's e-mail to you. The northern end of Assateague island (
with a bridge connection) is near Ocean City ,MD. The southern end is near
a town called Chincoteague, Va.. At the southern end you can get to some of
the island, but a small boat will be very helpful. I grew up in this area
and found ( like Rosenthal) that the beaches and marsh areas of the
southern end are far better than the northern end.  There is also more
commercial shell fishing at the southern end which means more shell piles
to go thru. This is the beginning of the shell fishing season so what you
find in the piles should be somewhat fresh.  You can drive by Hy Route 113
to Hy Route 13 from Ocean City to Chincoteague in about an hour of easy
driving.  Good luck
