"Is Typhoid Mary a good role model?"-Commentary on a speculative idea
for pathogen-based pest control. Apart from the fact that cane toads
eat anything smaller than themselves that moves and so presumably feed
on snails, not much mollusk tie-in.

More molluscan: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3204299.stm
Human roles include inciting the consumption, consuming the slugs, and
very probably introducing the slugs to Australia. Although no data
are provided on the identity of the slugs, certain slugs (and
snails-land and freshwater) are widespread invaders and known to host
it.

Bithynia tentaculata hosts a trematode that has caused widespread
waterfowl dieoffs in central North America, where Bithynia is
invasive.
