R. Tucker Abbott was the "sheller" for our century. No one deserves
more praise. In the last century, I would nominate Hugh Cumming -
1791-1865. His collections were the basis of Sowerby publications.
Hugh went, gathered, sent, and stood back as 19th century discoveries
were described. He was a collector par excellence---nothing more---
andf certainly nothing less.
