In my collecting activities, I have developed another hobby -- that of
compiling unusual place name.  I have lists for several states and am
continually adding more.  While working on freshwater mussels and terrestrial
snails in Alabama I have had occasion to visit such places as Intercourse,
Possum Trot, Shakerag, Tater Knob, and Wing.  These are just a few of the
strange names associated with real places in Alabama.
