IMHO, a recent publication which stands head and shoulders above any other
for many of the characteristics discussed is "Seashells of Eastern Arabia"
by Bosch, Dance, Moolenbeek, and Oliver.
Of course, it is not inexpensive, and it took 4 giants to do this excellent
job.
One feature I really appreciate is to have the text next to the pictures...
