Art,

I attended a conference in downtown Nashville, TN the day AFTER a
tornado hit that area. It was a mess, to say the least. So, yes,
tornados can hit downtown areas of large cities.

As for touching down in mountainous areas, I have seen the damage caused
by tornados in southern Tennessee. My husband grew up in western
Maryland. He says they *can* touch down in mountains, but not very
often.

Why the questions on tornados? Are you planning on moving your shells
and looking for a "safe" area?

Dear Andrew et al;-
This is tornado centered and I rpmise not to stretch it out. But
I was
wondering if tornados ever hit down-town areas of large cities. Xenia
doesn't count in that regard. And do they ever touch down in mountainous
areas? Does the topography afect them in that way?
