Dear Flavio, If you put to much in the aquarium like live rock and
sponges, them if any of the animals die in the rock or a sponge dies,
then the take would become polluted. Try to get your cowries to eat the
animal out of small bivalves. Cowries will eat almost anything once you
get them started. They will tolerate changes in the water unless they
are young ones that needs the minerals to grow. I have had over 20
years experience in keeping cowries alive in an aquarium. One lived 21
years. They are very interesting. Instead of a hydrometer I marked a
small black line at the water level, and when the water evaporated I
just added more fresh water, not salt water, the salt stays there just
the water evaporates. An outside pump with a filter is what I use. An
under the gravel filter is alright, but not necessary. Check with salt
water aquarium stores for the proper minerals to add.
