Avril,
I would like to have a copy of what you are doing. I, along with
two other speakers for Nature Discovery Volunteers, go out to schools and
talk with students, K-12, about shells and Man's Uses of Shells. We are a
non-profit organization in Humboldt County, California. Humboldt Co. is a
rural area, part of which is by the sea, yet students have no idea of the
resources that they are near, nor the uses their grandparent made of
mollusks. Part of the county is several Native American reservations,
whose religious and cultural uses of shells may still go on, but are
reluctant to talk about it with outsiders.
If you send us a copy we'd be pleased to read it and send comments.
Good luck on this project as I'm sure that your volunteerism is
well received by the children of your area.
