Hi Avril and others,
An interesting title for your program. I have used the same title for a
program I have been giving for many years and it seems like it says it all. I
also believe the late Dr. R.T. Abbott also used the title Man and Mollusks
for his program on the uses of shells by man. Am I incorrect or didn't he
name the Hall in Delaware Museum the same?
I would like to recommend a small coloring book in your advice for
teachers. It is called Shells of the World Coloring Book by Lucia de Leiris
and published by Dover Publications of New York.
It is the only coloring book I have ever seen with drawings of live
seashells. I often give programs to young children and give them an olive
shell and the coloring page of the live olives. I do not believe I have ever
heard of the author in any malacological circles, but she did a fantastic job
of depicting the animals in their natural habitat.
I don't have a scanner or I would scan a page for you. It is really an
excellent book. The address is Dover Publications Inc, 31 East 2nd Street,
Mineola, N.Y. 11501 Copyright 1983.
