Hi James,

According to da Motta, cone shells are divided in eight genera, under the
main structural aspect of the shell shapes:
Conus, Leptoconus, Dendroconus, Hermes, Profundiconus, Gastridium,
Conasprella, Cylinder.
Each Genus is further divided in many Subgenera.
For more informations see:
A.J.da Motta, 1991. "A Systematic Classification of the Gastropod Family
Conidae at the Generic Level" . Roma, La Conchiglia

You can find images and informations about C.helgae in:
Rockel, D., Korn, W. & Kohn, A.J., 1995. " Manual of the Living Conidae".
Wiesbaden, C. Hemmen

Ciao, Giancarlo

Oggetto: several questions

Dear all, here are some questions that I have been
wanting to ask, and I only just got around to it. First,
what is the worlds smallest cowrie? Second, can somebody
tell me if cone shells are devided into subgenusus like Cowries?
Third, can someone supply me with some info and possibly a photo of
Conus helgae Blöcher? Also, anyone have some good photos of Conus
abbotti? If anyone has photos, please send them to:

Any other info can be sent to me normally.

Thanks,
James
