Dear all,
To my knowledge Mörch came from Danmark. In Germany where ö, ü and so on
are used, the ' " ' is called an umlaut. Unfortunately, I don't know what
the
' / ' is called. I think they have it in Sweden and Norway as well.
There is a nice example, when a "oe" cannot be changed into ' ö '. This is
the case with the Dutch malacologist Van der Hoeven who's name is sometimes
incorrectly spelled as Van der Höven). To complicate matters: the Dutch '
oe ' is pronounced like the German ' u ', and the Dutch ' u ' is pronounced
like the German ' ü '.
