Dear Leslie and others,
Oh dear, I thought the word bommie was quite universally used amongst
divers. I can best describe it as a distinctive congregation of coral
(usually several different species), separate from a (nearby) coral reef.
Bommies can reach all the way from the bottom to the surface and can be
quite big, but you can always swim all the way around them. They are often
very very interesting in terms of marine life
