And when you're not at the Ft. Lauderdale Shell Show, take a trip
down to John Lloyd State Park in Dania, just to the south. Get
on Rt. 1 south, and take a left onto Dania Beach Boulevard and
follow the signs. Once in the park o to the last parking space to the
right, almost at the inlet and go on the beach. Comb the tidal drifts.
If the tide is out, check around the long boards and rocks at the
very end of the beach, but step carefully - they're slippery.
You should find all kinds of wonderful little treasures. Among
recent finds: epitonium species, oliva reticularis bifasciata.
There are bursas, olives, conus species, etc.
You will have shell collecting company while there - others have
the same idea - but new "stuff" comes up every night.
