We just received a box of shells, most of which have scientific names on crumbling, yellowed paper. One loose piece of paper is labeled as Damascus Shield, Mark, Okinawa, 1979. Don’t know Mark but we lived lived in Okinawa. I have one Compendium of Seashells and its list of common names is brief. Our shell library is boxed due to hurricane Michael damage. Tried on line and all I can come up with is various knives with abalone inlaid handles. I am familiar with Damascus steel but that does not helping this case. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Linda Brunner
