Dear colleagues,
We would like to announce the conjoint meeting between two European
Societies of Protozoology (Spanish and French). We wouldn't like to be
restrictives, therefore we extend the invitation to all of you, especially
those working in Europe agreeing with the spirit of this meeting. This is
the text we have elaborated.
Best wishes for this 2007
Yours,
Eduardo Villalobo

Dear Protozoologist,
On behalf of “Grupo Especializado de Protozoología SEM” and “Groupment de
Protistologues de Langue Française”, we have the pleasure to announce you
the conjoint celebration in 2008 of their respective meetings. The
gathering, tentatively called First GEP-GPLF Meeting, will be held in
Seville, from 4th to 7th June. The aim of this meeting is to promote
Protozoology in Europe through scientific exchange. Official language is
English. We shall make up an attractive scientific program and encourage the
active participation of young researchers (pre-, post-docs); the city will
provide attendants with nice spring weather, history, and charm.
The scientific program will be divided in three main axes, Evolution of
protists, Biology of free-living protists, and Biology of parasitic
protists, with oral presentations and posters. Topics should be set up
according to received abstracts. If financial support allows it, two granted
talks, opening and closing the meeting, each given by an outstanding
protistologue during 60 minutes, are foreseen. Oral communications will be
held in morning and afternoon sessions. Every session will include one talk,
given by a senior researcher during 45 minutes, five secondary talks, given
by young researchers during 20 minutes. All submitted abstracts should be
considered as potential for oral presentations; selection will be carried
out by the scientific committee of the meeting. Non-selected abstracts
should be presented as posters. A session for poster discussion will be
included also.
Sevilla (Seville), located in Andalucía, south of the Iberian Peninsula, is
a median-size city, well communicated both by ground and air transportation.
A high-speed train join Sevilla to Madrid in 21/2 hours, through Córdoba (45
min). Divided highways leave Sevilla to main andalusian cities, by
relevance, Córdoba, Granada, and Málaga. Traditional and low cost flights
daily connect Sevilla to Madrid, Paris, and other Spanish and European
cities. Sevilla is also close to Algeciras’ port, the bridge towards Magreb.
Accommodation offer is wide and with good quality/price rate; low price
accommodation for students in youth hostel or dormitory is guarantee.
Mid-to-low price hotels are also guaranteed.
The planned meeting place is Reina Mercedes campus of Sevilla University,
located 15 min by bus from the city centre, and close to youth hostel,
dormitory and few hotels.
Registration fees will be for senior researches only. If financial support
allows it, few young researches will be awarded.
