Hi, Everyone!
Several years ago I found a small piece of palm log on a beach here on Jeju Island that was full of Martesia striata. It took over a month, with a dentist's pick and an Exacta knife to remove all the specimens. There were several growth series in excellent condition, although there were a few casualties. Patience is the key recommendation!
All the best from Korea!

Subject:
[CONCH-L] Retrieving Wood-boring Mollusks Greetings: I have a small piece of
waterlogged wood (~12" x 4"), not so much that it
is easily breakable, but enough that the wood is wet
throughout. There are several bore holes (0.25"
- 0.5" diameter), two of which look to be occupied.
I am looking for recommendations on how to prize the wood
apart to retrieve the mollusks without smashing the shells.
Any and all hints are requested and
welcomed.
Thanks. Bob FalesEdison, NJ
