Dear Charles - Thank you, you gave me my first big smile of the day.
Here's a story I think you and the rest of Conch-L might enjoy.
I was in the Philippines (to be specific Punto Engano on Mactan Island) with
a group. We were visiting a dealer. A member of our group bought a shell &
then started asking for information for the data slip. More and more details
were asked for. You could see the dealer was getting exasperated. Finally
the buyer said "I need to know the exact depth at which this shell was
taken, and I don't want it in metric." The dealer's responce was immediate.
"62 feet" 7 and 3/16 inches." And you know what the buyer did, very
carefully wrote it all down.
