Dear Phil,

pique in the German translation is not a fine word. It means the same to pick on another person,
or to get in rage, angery, eg. So maybe I missunderstood this word. I was not pleased with warning of today, as I feel I stopped asking for ......... public on conch-l. So I think the warning
was unjustified. So I'll quit really. I think I have done my best, I had always a little bit of
Tyrolean or self created homour, which not always was to understand. But I hope some
of you loved my contributes to the list and have not been annoyed by me.
with best greetings
Helmut, getting normal, but too late.

Dear Helmut,
"Pique" means, more or less, a fit of displeasure. Some of us find uses of
the word funny. We did not mean to say that you should be "picked" on.
Humor is the last thing one masters in another language.
