Brett your are correct.
As a part of our competitive nature, in many ways this is a vanity book, much
like a who’s who, for those of us who care to submit. However, on the other
hand, it is a tool for showing what a species is capable of attaining size wise
and a relative location. Noting, there is always one bigger in someone else’s
collection somewhere.

John,
As a note on extracting data from an existing list and publishing it to the
web. Except for usage as a citation in a paper, reproduction of this type is a
violation of the copyright of the publication it is taken from. Notably, when
Hutsell & Pisor set out to do theirs, they were not allowed to used the Wagner
and Abbott information to build from and had to create theirs from scratch.
Anyone who wanted to do a web version would have to do the same (from scratch)
or purchase the rights.

Leslie
