Cephalopods can stand out or blend in using their very complex set of
chromatophores and phtotophores. I can speak from experience that some
have chocolate-syrup colored ink that they squirt when upset! But I
don't think that purple dye is part of their repertoire.

does any other taxa besides Muricidae is known to produce purple
dye??
