I can vouch for five of the areas they mention, and not just the shells, they are beautiful places:
Sanibel Isl. FL - the beaches and the museum
Kauai, HI - how did they pick just one beach
Cumberland Isl. GA - just one of several great islands to visit
Eleuthera Bahamas - so many islands so little time!
Peconic Bay, NY - in the heart of the 'windmill antilles'

Having spent so much of my youth in the area I would say, the North and South fork of Long Island,
Shelter Island, Gardners Island and Block Island are all worth visiting. Block Isl is really part of RI, but
they are still part of the 'windmill antilles'.

The islands along the Georgia coast are each unique and worth visiting. Most were private islands
that only recently were aquired by the State or Federal Goverment. Some are easily accessable
(Tybee, Sea Island, St. Simons, and Jekyl can be reached by bridges). Others have limited access via
ferry (Ossabaw, Sapelo, Little St. Simons, Cumberland). And some are even more remote (Wassaw,
Blackbeard, Wolf, St. Catherines). http://www.coastalgeorgiaexperience.com/
