These "Bioblitz" thingies are becoming quite popular in North
America these days!  We had one here in Halifax a few weeks ago, in a
newly-created provincial park, run by a local university.  No land
snails were found, however, since the bedrock is all granite.... loads
of good fun, however, and the press coverage was surprisingly generous.

Dear Listers,

A week ago Ellen Bulger broadcast the question "Have any of you all
taken part in a _bioblitz_?" to the forum.

There was only one response, from Steve Rosenthal, and he was
disappointed in the management of one such campaign in which he served
as a conchologist recruit.

To avoid pratfalls inherent in any enterprise governed by "committee,"
how about an empowered biosurvey dedicated to malacology?
