Yes, Dick, that is the place to look.

Thanks for the direction. It seems that the ITIS took all of its molluscan dates
from:

Turgeon et al., eds. 1998. Common and Scientific Names of Aquatic Invertebrates
from the United States and Canada: Mollusks, second edition. AFS Special
Publication 26

It gives 1836 as the year for Cypraea spadicea Swainson.

I will get in touch with ITIS to see if they will consider updating their
posting.
