While silicon oil is not soluble, an equal mix with ethanol, shaken well,
allows a tidy application. Reapplications will concentrate the oil.
I don't know for sure, and it hasn't been in use for as long as the
hydrocarbons, but it seems to be problem-free, more chemically stable and
easily removed. Specimens examined (Liguus, Jones) more than twenty years
after application are in fine condition.
I'll make my own emulsion rather than trust to an unknown like ArmorAll.
Has anyone else had personal experience with ArmorAll or silicon oil in
other forms? I'm especially interested in finding out how well it
preserves heavy perio and ligaments.

Phil
