Hello All.

I recently received a nice Muricanthus kusterianus (Tapparone-Canefri,
1875)from 'Gulf of Oman' from an old collection. I was looking through my
Compendium and saw a Hexaplex kuesterianus (same author) that's listed as
being from "Western-Africa". I have Radwin's/D'Attilio's Murex Shells of
the World (an older 1976 publication) which seems to have gotten the species
and locality correct.

So, are these actually two different Murex species or does this represent a
mistake in the Compendium? If they are the same species, what genus is the
species currently placed under?

Thanks,

Doug
