I've actually seen a large land snail (camaenid?) caught in one of
those in north Queensland-it apparently went after the bait for
mammals and crawled directly onto the trigger.

Chicken bones are recommended for attracting olives.  Pet food, meat
scraps, etc. are likely to be attractive; you just need to come up
with something with a fine enough mesh to hold what you want to catch.
