HI Steve,

Yes, that is a great display, very elegantly designed and with good data associated with the shells. After you visit the Library, make sure you stop at the Shell Museum to check the new Deep-sea Mollusks exhibit and others. The new exhibit displays a number of very unusual mollusks from hydrothermal vents, cold seeps, and whale falls, many of them never displayed before in a public venue (yes, it is raining on and on Sanibel, which is unusual for this time of year.)

Happy Holidays,

José

Subject: [CONCH-L] Sanibel Shell Display at Sanibel

we all know about the shell museums displays on sanibel, but i just discovered something else...at the Sanibel public library Elsie Malone'a Collection - or at least a good chunk of it- is on display. fully labeled with data and a history about her and her collection.

also, in the same entryway area there is a display of fossil shells which were apparently unearthed while the library was being built.

worth checking out especially if its raining, or (as it is now) high tide.
