i can vouch for that, seen the piles in multiple states....giant metal
cages full of them  in Bivalve NJ, about an hour out of Cape May....
If you buy "baked stuff clams" in most grocery stores in the NE USA
the  individual stuffing/ clam food product is usually sitting in
individual Arctica shells.
