"Compendium of Landshells" is notoriously "un-proofed".

Thanks Harry,

just double checked our databases. The one who used "daranganicus" was
Abbott in the Compendium of landshells. Now cleared.

Dear Phil and John,

Maybe Hidalgo didn't proof that index, Earlier, in the original description,
there was only one "n" in the specific epithet, to wit:

"daranganicus" is an incorrect subsequent spelling.

The species is named for its type locality, and the original spelling is not
only rendered correctly in a linguistic sense, it is a correct original
spelling under the provisions of the Code.

The index to Hidalgo vol XIV has it as daranganicus. I believe that came

I am working my way through my shell collection trying to clean up labels
(etc) with all osrts of interesting dilemmas cropping up.

To begin with, I have two lots of a Cyclophorus from Polillo Island in the
Philippines, one labeled C. daranganicus Hidalgo, 1888 and the other C.
daraganicus Hidalgo, 1888.
Abbott offers one spelling and Parkinson et al offers the other.  Is anyone
able to weigh on the correct name of this Philippine land snail?

On a totally unrelated note, I am looking for a specimen of Achatina
iredalei. Any leads?
