Dear Brit,
About Nacre in ancient times - See Dr. R.T. Abbott's book, Kingdom Of The
Seashell, p. 211. Nacre, like in pearls, was crushed and used for medicinal
purposes, mixed with betel nut for chewing, used for jewelry and placed on
dead people to help in the next life.
