I, too, am sorry to hear of Peggy's passing. I first met her in October of 2014 in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. She was giving a shelling tour, and I rendezvoused with her there and showed her a couple of great places to collect shells on future tours. We hit it off and I was looking forward to joining her trip to Eleuthera this fall.

=============

Dear All,

I am also very sorry to hear the sad news.

I believe I knew Peggy in my first COA Convention in Punta Rassa (2005) and we've been immediately friends since then. She liked my strange bivalves and turrids from my part of the whorld, in spite they are not bright or colorful.

After the COA Convention in Clearwater, FL, I had a strong flu and was not feeling nothing well. She took me her home and let me stay in the company of her husband Tom and herself for a couple of days, where I recovered very soon thanks of her hospitality and kindness.

We went together to listen his brother's band -playing some of the most wonderful songs of The Beatles I ever heard in live that time- and she had the generosity of giving me an incredible amount of her tiny shell spares, mostly self-collected, during dozens of collecting trips in the Caribbean Sea and overseas. What a gesture.

What else can I say?. Thank you Peggy. I am going to miss Peggy a lot.

What a shock! I've known Peggy for so many years. I first met her in 1976. Never was there a time she did not go out of her way to help and encourage me as a fledgling conchogist. I know so many have experienced similar support and encouragement from her over the years.

Peggy stayed true to her love of the hobby right until the end. Her furtherance of conchological knowledge especially her love for West Indian Turridae, the expansive field collecting data she imparted to the sciences over decades, and her active club participation for so many years will not be forgotten and sorely missed.

Following is an email that Sarasota Shell Club President Sally Peppitoni sent to club members concerning the passing of long-time club member and Internationally recognized shell expert Peggy Williams.
"It is with the deepest regret and sadness that I must inform everyone of the passing of Peggy Williams. Peggy was on a flight from Baja to L.A. and suffered an aneurysm. She was taken to a hospita...l in L.A. upon landing but passed away about a two days later. Her husband Tom flew out to L.A. and was with her when she passed. He will be returning with her remains toward the end of next week. Memorial plans have not yet been made. I will inform you when plans are complete. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. Peggy has done so much for the club through all the years she has been a member. Her expertise in shells is extensive and she will be greatly missed."

Hey all, I just saw a notice on facebook that Peggy Williams has passed away. There has been nothing on conch-l. Can anyone confirm or hopefully deny this?
 Peggy was a friend and I really cannot stand to think she is gone.
