REPLY or NOT to REPLY, that is the question....

If you are interested in contacting an individual that posted a message to
CONCH-L _DO NOT USE REPLY_. Using 'REPLY' will send your post to CONCH-L,
which will send a copy of your message to everyone who is subscribed to
CONCH-L.

Instead look for the commands: 'FORWARD' or 'REDIRECT' in the e-mail
program on your computer (in Eudora on my Macintosh these commands are
listed under the 'MESSAGE' heading on the control bar at the top of the
screen (substitute 'window' for screen if you are using a PC). Other email
programs have similar abilities, you just need to look for the commands
(check the programs on-line 'HELP' or manual).

Both 'FORWARD' and 'REDIRECT' commands will open a copy of the currently
selected e-mail message leaving the 'TO' line in the header part of the
message blank. All you need to do is fill in the 'TO' line in the header
with the appropriate internet address AND THEN 'SEND' the message to its
new destination.

It is actually very simple to do.

Why should you bother using these features of your e-mail program ?
  1) It will keep your personal messages from being read by everyone
subscribed to the CONCH-L. Keep your private mail private.
  2) It will reduce the amount of e-mail messages that are bouncing
around the internet; giving other messages will have a better
chance of getting through. The internet is a finite resource, so use
       it wisely.
