I am constantly surprised that so-called "civilized" and/or "advanced"
countries continue to use extemely crude methods of controlling disease-causing
agents, such malathion and "pestiside cocktails". With the massive resources
available to us, surely we can come up with species-specific solutions? Why
can't, for example, a virus be genetically engineered to attack only the species
of mosquito that spread the West Nile Virus, for example? - is it "technically
unfeasable", or just "too expensive" (quotes in both cases deliberate and rhetorical)??

-Ross.
