Hi Carol,

Chitosol is a trade name for chitosan, which supposedly helps the body
metabolize fat, control triglyceride levels, etc.  However, it doesn't come
from chitons.  It comes from the substance chitin, which is extracted from
the "shells" of marine crustaceans like crabs, lobsters, and shrimp.
