Hi Jenny,

No, there is no minimum on donations. A collection of bivalves, even
though common, might bring interest in the bid auction, if sold as a lot.
This has been done before, stimulating some frenzied bidding! Remember
that some people are just getting started with bivalves and will be quite
interested.

Also, there is the Silent Auction segment of the Annual Auction. It handles
specimens and artifacts of lesser value in a series of table auctions which
are a lot of fun and of great interest to the convention attendees, as well
as funding a couple of grants every year, all by themselves. (It was at a
Silent Auction that Walter Sage's Hard Hat was offered for sale, right Alan
G.?) These are usually run during the program sessions.

However, I would suggest that you contact Dave and Lucille Green on this
<[log in to unmask]> and get their advice. Or contact Linda Koestel at
[log in to unmask] who is our very able1998 Convention Chairman, and she
can direct you to the persons in charge of the Silent Auction division.

I'll look forward to bidding on some of those bivalves myself! Tease us a
little..what sorts of bivalves do you have? Tellins, maybe? I love tellins.

Also, MICKEY SEZ: All of you who are intersted in donating to the auction
should not delay. Pack those boxes today, and don't forget the data slips!
Preparation of these auctions is a huge job, both for Dave and Lucille and
for the Silent Auction crew. And time is getting short. Many of us will be
leaving for the convention just one month from today.

All the best,

Lynn Scheu
