Hi all,
Question for the bivalve experts. I just read about a giant clam
(Tridacna crocea) which may have released its foot (kept in a "reef
tank"). It was then suggested as normal. Autotomy of the foot is well
known among certain gastropod families such as Cypraea, Stomatella, and
Harpa but I've never heard of this with bivalves. Is this true? Normal?
Any references I can turn to? My curiosity is peaked.
Cheers,
Bob
