Although described in 1821, even in 1961 digitate were still in obscurity.
It was believed at one time there were 2. L. digitata (Perry, 1811) and
what appeared to be a smaller version, L. digitata crocata Reeve.
Suggestions were made that it be raised to a full subspecies, but it never
developed. Sounds like a up-date is needed.
