Evidently you did not read the entire nessage string to which you replied.
Carl Linnaeus' father was Nils Ingemarsson, indicating that he was the son
of Ingemar Bengtsson. As stated in an earlier message, "The father of
Carolus Linnaeus was Nils Linnaeus (1674-1748) who had at first borne a
patronymic as was customary. When he
enrolled in university he had to add a surname of his choice. His choice
was Linnaeus."
Ingemarsson was not a surname and it was necessary for him to chose one upon
entering university.
