Scungilli, already mentioned by others, is often referred to locally as
"snail salad".  It is available at the deli counter of many supermarkets in
the Rhode Island area and is also offered as an appetizer at many area
restaurants. The meat of the foot is sliced thin and marinated in oil and
vinegar with various spices. Busycon meat is also used as bait in fishing
for various bottom feeding species like cod, pollack, and flounder.
