Get out your copy of The American Museum of Natural History Guide To Shells,
William K. Emerson & Morris K. Jacobson.  Fornix (Latin) , arch or vault.  The
Latin name of this species is derived from the noun fornix, meaning "arch,"
which
aptly describes the shape of this shell.
