I kinda got in late on the range extensions. I know that the
Marginellas, especially Volvarina in the Caribbean are a mess. They
hatch out of the egg crawling so the colony pretty well stays in the
same locality. Almost every Island in the Caribbean has different forms
of Volvarina avena, I call it the avena complex, with many sub-species
names. After many hundreds of years of isolation they of course change
in color and shape. I have over 15 varities, some named, some not. Many
other Marginellas have the same thing happen to them. If a DNA was done
the look alikes may all be the same species.
