Hi,
Yes, I would like to know, too. What wavelengths are the worst; are there
any light sources that are alright? I love displaying my shells, and
displaying only the white ones doesn't cut it. It seems such a shame to
have to hide my collection away in the dark.
Do some colors fade more than others, or does it depend on what compound
the pigment is made from?
I know that some shells, such as Cypraea tesselata, C. helvola are bad
for fading, while other shells, such as my Conus tesselatus
and Papustyla pulcherrima never seem to loose thier original beauty.
I have bit north-facing windows, so there's no direct sunlight,
but I'm sure damage would occur to some degree anyway.
