To all who responded with help in the identification of the two strombs,
thank you. It is nice to have a couple of sources confirm your
identification of something when you are not 100% sure. And it is
really nice when it even includes a scanned image -- thanks Bill.
But the identification game is at least half of the fun with this
avocation/hobby. I just got a copy of the RKK cone book (great price --
thank you Mark) and today I found that all but one of the Conus
figulinus I had were not C. figulinus but C. loroisii f. insignis
instead. Nice deal, I gained a new species in the comfort of my living
room. Now the bad part, to anyone I may have sent a C. figulinus... you
might have another; no... you probably have another species altogether.
Sorry, it must have been a no-see-um, or at least a no-know-um.
