BLUF: Agree with Travis -- people need to decide for themselves whether or
not to attend this auction.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend COA this year. But if I were, I
think I might go to this much-maligned auction just to see what all the
fuss is about, perhaps to talk to the auctioneer and hear his viewpoint.
In the end, I might feel justified in sharing an opinion with him that the
auction was poorly timed.
However, I couldn't form any opinion at all without having done one
fundamental thing -- heard his side of story. How can we judge this person
without consideration for his motives, background, and circumstances?
I hope that an effort to blacklist the Len Hill auction wasn't started by a
competing dealer at the COA bourse. It's obvious who will benefit if there
is poor turnout at the Hill auction.
Go see for yourselves! Then judge.
