About toad story, there is a slight possibility of these things to happen. For
instance, the juvenile toad (it was argued so) or a newly hatched able to fit
in can pass and captured when got bigger. For the toad case it is possible
that it can devor insects (ants) by chance found the wall very attractive at
the time (!!). But, for snails it is even more unlikely because the crevice
wouldnt support enough mold etc.
