They prepared a skeleton of a young Grey Whale for the Poulsbo Marine
Science Center in Washington by keeping it weighted down in sacks in sea
water. The crabs etc did a great job.
You might want to check with the local wildlife authorities. I headr
this story about 1982: a few years before, someone hacked teeth off of a
beached killer whale on the Straits of Juan de Fuca, and gave them away
to various friends. One such friend needed money and tried to sell it at
Pike Place, where he was questioned by wildlife agents. The next
morning, everyone who had these teeth were awaken at gunpoint by the
authorities before sunrise, and the teeth seized.
Good Luck!
