I believe whatever people think about the political situation, the family
situation is as clear-cut as you can get. The father was not asked by
Elián's mother about taking him away. That makes her action kidnapping. The
trip was dangerous enough to drown her and leave him on an inner tube. I'd
say her judgment and concern for her son's best interests were highly
questionable. The child needs to be returned immediately to his father.
