Dear Conch-L experts,

This past weekend, I was snorkling in Toyon Bay on Catalina Island (off
the coast of Los Angeles, California, USA) and I encountered a group of
thaids in a few feet of water that looked like a smooth form of Thais
haemostoma: grey-brown exterior, orange mouth.  The only eastern Pacific
shell that I could find close to this guy is Stramonita biserialis but
Catalina Island would be a significant northern extension to the range
of that Thaid.   Also, I believe that the orange aperture is not
characterisitc of S. biserialis.

Anybody have any ideas or know of other occurrences of this mollusk
around Catalina?
